Lisa Walker is the Executive Director of the Education Writers Association, the national professional organization of education reporters and editors, located in Washington, DC. EWA was organized in 1947 by a group of newspaper reporters with the intent of improving education reporting to the public. http://www.ewa.org/
With a background in political science and non-profit work, Lisa served the City of Hyattsville as a Councilmember for eight years (1995 –2003), the final two as Council President. Lisa was Vice President of the Institute of Educational Leadership and worked on Capitol Hill as a U.S. Senate Committee Staff member for 8 years, developing education and disability legislation. She has served on numerous local community boards and committees and is an avid biker. Lisa has an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Rochester and a B.A. also in Political Science, from Syracuse University.
