Welcome!

The Hyattsville CDC is dedicated to the revitalization and sustainable development of the Hyattsville community. Founded in the fall of 2000 by community activists, our mission is to develop arts, entertainment, and public spaces; spur economic development and the quality of community life; encourage widespread leadership for community revitalization; and to rebuild the City's commercial corridors. We are both excited and confident in our role as a vital part of Hyattsville’s continuing growth.

Explore our new website. We have information about the services we provide, membership in the CDC, the community we live in, events around town, access to real estate resources, and more.

Feel free to contact us to share how, together, we can help shape the Hyattsville community.

Local Historian Researches Hyattsville's History In Images

Over the course of a year, Andra Damron compiled a collection of photos, anecdotal stories, and artifacts for her book, "Hyattsville: Images of America", that delves into Hyattsville's history. Her book, written on behalf of the Hyattsville Preservation Association, is part of the publisher's series chronicles histories of small municipalities across the nation. Here's a short snippet:

Hyattsville, at first glance, may be seen as a typical Washington D.C. suburb with growth spurred by the railroad, streetcar, and automobile. Hyattsville CDC Welcomes Zimstone Gallery

HYATTSVILLE, MD— After months of planning and preparation, Zimstone Gallery will open it’s doors on June 21st with an inaugural exhibition aptly titled “House of Stone,” named after the literal translation of the word “Zimbabwe,” the country from which most of the gallery’s represented artists hail.

Zimstone Gallery aims to introduce the Washington, D.C. greater area to some of the most exciting contemporary African Art being created in Zimbabwe today. Through it’s existence, Zimstone aims to create a much-needed outlet for Zimbabwean artists by making their work available to the international public. Support for the artists of Zimbabwe is a cause that is important to the founders of Zimstone Gallery given the current vast need for humanitarian awareness in Zimbabwe.
