Executive Director’s Summary of Recent and Relevant Development Activity

University of MD - East Campus:

The University of Maryland and its developer have formally filed a Detailed Site Plan for the East Campus Project: Phase 1 consists of 423,970 sq ft of retail, 815 residential units, a hotel containing 175-200 rooms, and 104,400 sq ft of office space.  Phase II consists of 693 residential units. We are listed as parties of record.

2803 Jamestown Road:

Applicant requests to convert home to Ariel’s Hair Salon: property 2nd from corner, between two single-family homes, across from the Texaco. We have filed to be a Party of Record. An absentee owner is the proposing applicant, and not for a resident’s home business use.

4332-4 Farragut St:

Applicant (Meyer, Scherer, & Rockcastle) requests to build a mixed-use project including 1st floor commercial uses (restaurant) and garage, with residential above, and proposes a four-story, 6000 sq ft addition on the north portion of the property. Additionally, applicant will seek to narrow Church Alley by seeking a sidewalk adjacent to their building envelope. Site is the original HVFD station. We have filed to be a Party of Record.

2400 Queens Chapel Road:

Applicant Kettler’s expansion of a multi-family apartment tower has changed its proposal’s name from Avondale Overlook to the “Metropolitan at Hyattsville.” Due to both their proximity and the name change, we are filing to be parties of record.  Additionally, this group has called the CDC to discuss some kind of program assistance they need rendered, and we are to speak soon.

4713 Baltimore Ave:

Applicant Holiness Church of God has assembled these parcels to renovate the building on site to become a church. The property lies in the Arts Production & Entertainment character area of the Gateway Arts District. This is not a permitted use. Hence, we see their intent to request for Detailed Site Plan review.  We have filed to be a Party of Record.
