About the City of Hyattsville

The City of Hyattsville has been experiencing a locally-driven resurgence in development activity and investment that is reminiscent of previous growth eras. An incorporated municipality within Prince George’s County, the City covers 2.9 square miles and provides a home to approximately 18,000 residents. It is located just over a mile from the District of Columbia, and less than six miles from the dome of the U.S. Capitol. Hyattsville’s attractive character and existing public infrastructure of established, front porch communities and growing commercial centers has once again focused attention upon the City as a model of a Smart Growth infused, inner suburb burgeoning with investment: Hyattsville is situated about one mile south of the University of Maryland -College Park, home to The Mall at Prince George’s, the Queens Chapel Town Center, a proud Historic District of commercial and residential properties, and a budding economic center for the Gateway Arts District.
