Today the Route 1 Ride Collaborative announced that beginning Tuesday, July 24th, 2012 residents may vote for their favorite bus wrap design. The winning design will be showcased as a bus wrap for the Route 1 Ride. The Collaborative chose to crowdsource the bus wrap design to increase ridership and awareness of the Route 1 Ride as a way to get around while enjoying the unique charms of visiting, living, working, and playing in the Route 1 Corridor.
The designs of Jennifer Axner, Matthew Gifford, and Boshwell Talavera were selected by a jury comprised of Route 1 Corridor County and Municipal representatives. 

Online voting for the final selection will take place on www.Route1Ride.com.

The wrap design, which will be highlighted on TheBus: Route 17, serving Prince George’s County’s Route 1 Corridor communities from Mount Rainier to College Park. 

The winning design will be selected to be featured on three buses for a period of at least three years, beginning in late, 2012. The three selected finalist artist/s / designer/s have received a $500 honorarium for their designs. The final selected artist / designer will receive a $4,000 honorarium for the winning design. The project is generously sponsored by The Route 1 Ride Collaborative and its Municipal members in celebration of the critical role that the arts play in the Gateway Arts District and the revitalization of Prince George’s County.
